Your baby at 13 weeks
Welcome to the last week of your first trimester. Your baby is roughly the size of a lemon, and the vocal cords are beginning to form. The body is starting to catch up to the size of the head, and tiny bones are developing in the arms and legs.
Your body this week
Many people feel a welcome lift in energy this week as early pregnancy symptoms begin to fade. You might notice more visible veins as your body produces extra blood, and some increase in vaginal discharge, which is normal and helps protect against infection. A little round ligament twinge as your uterus stretches is also common.
Tips for week 13
This can be a nice moment to start thinking about how and when you would like to share your news. Begin looking into comfortable clothing options, since you may soon want a bit more room. Keep meals balanced with protein, whole grains, and produce to support steady energy.
