Your baby at 20 weeks
You are officially halfway through your pregnancy. Your baby is about the size of a banana and is busy swallowing small amounts of amniotic fluid, which helps the digestive system practice for life outside the womb. This is also when the detailed anatomy ultrasound often takes place, giving you a wonderful look at how your little one is growing.
Your body this week
Many women feel some of their best energy around this point, with morning sickness usually well behind them. You may notice a growing appetite, mild backaches, leg cramps, or a darkening line down your belly called the linea nigra. Round ligament aches as your uterus stretches are common and completely normal.
Tips for week 20
Enjoy your mid-pregnancy anatomy scan and bring a partner or loved one if you can, since it is a special milestone. Stay hydrated, keep moving gently, and consider supportive shoes for any back or foot discomfort. Keep up with your prenatal vitamins and your regular checkups.
