Your baby at 21 weeks

Your baby's movements are becoming more coordinated, turning gentle flutters into kicks, rolls, and stretches you can really feel. Eyebrows and eyelids are more defined, and the digestive system continues to mature as your little one swallows fluid. Tiny taste buds are forming, so baby is starting to sample the flavors of what you eat.

Your body this week

You may feel hungrier and notice more visible movement from your baby. Some women experience leg cramps, mild swelling in the feet, or stretch marks beginning to appear on the belly, hips, or breasts. Increased blood flow can also bring a healthy pregnancy glow along with occasional oilier skin.

Tips for week 21

Start paying attention to your baby's patterns of movement, as getting familiar now makes it easier to notice changes later. Moisturize your growing belly if it feels itchy, and prop your feet up when you can to ease swelling. Light stretching or prenatal yoga can soothe cramping legs.
