Your baby at 26 weeks
Your baby's eyes are beginning to open, and they are becoming more responsive to your touch and to sounds. The lungs keep maturing as your little one practices breathing motions with amniotic fluid. Brain activity is increasing, and baby is settling into more regular cycles of sleep and wakefulness.
Your body this week
As your belly grows, you may feel more pressure, backaches, and occasional shortness of breath. Braxton Hicks contractions can become more noticeable, and some women experience trouble sleeping or vivid dreams. Mild swelling in the legs and feet is still common, especially after standing for long periods.
Tips for week 26
Take breaks to sit and elevate your feet during the day, and listen to your body when you need rest. Practice slow, deep breathing to ease shortness of breath and help you relax. This is a good time to look into childbirth and breastfeeding classes if you have not already.
