Your baby at 30 weeks

Your baby's brain is growing quickly and developing the wrinkles and grooves that allow for more brain tissue. The eyes can open and close, and your baby can tell the difference between light and dark. Bone marrow has taken over the job of producing red blood cells, an important step toward life outside the womb.

Your body this week

You may feel more uncomfortable as your belly grows, with backaches, fatigue, and trouble sleeping becoming more noticeable. Mood swings can return in these later weeks, which is completely normal. Some people experience Braxton Hicks contractions, which are practice tightenings that come and go without a regular pattern.

Tips for week 30

Rest when your body asks for it, and listen to those signals without guilt. Gentle movement like walking or prenatal stretching can ease aches and boost your energy. This is a good time to start thinking about your birth preferences and to ask your provider any questions on your mind at your next visit.
