Your baby at 31 weeks
Your baby can now turn their head from side to side and is growing quickly, which means they are starting to run out of room to flip and tumble. The brain is processing information and is able to take in signals from all five senses. Your baby is also going through real sleep cycles, with quiet and active periods you may begin to recognize.
Your body this week
Shortness of breath and a frequent need to urinate may increase as your baby takes up more space. Your breasts may begin leaking small amounts of colostrum, the first milk, which is normal. Braxton Hicks contractions may become more noticeable, and a little fatigue is expected.
Tips for week 31
Nursing pads can help if leaking colostrum feels bothersome. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can ease the squeezed feeling in your stomach and reduce heartburn. If contractions become regular, painful, or are paired with other symptoms, call your provider to be safe rather than waiting it out.
