Your baby at 9 weeks

At 9 weeks your baby is about the size of a cherry, and the essential organs are now in place and beginning to function. The small embryonic tail has disappeared, and the body is looking more clearly human. Tiny muscles are forming, allowing for the first small spontaneous movements.

Your body this week

Hormone levels are high, so nausea and fatigue may still be at their peak, along with mood changes and food sensitivities. Your waistline may feel thicker from bloating, and your breasts may continue to grow. Headaches can also show up for some people this week.

Tips for week 9

Prioritize rest and do not feel guilty about napping or slowing down, since your body is doing extraordinary work. Stay hydrated, which can ease headaches and fatigue. If you have not already, look into prenatal care options and any first trimester screening tests your provider offers.
