Garden Clinicians Stay Informed About BRCA Testing

Seasons 52, Garden City, NY  - Garden OB/GYN Clinicians engaged in an interactive and informative conference, hosted by Myriad Genetics, on BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 testing with special guest speaker Dr. Herman. These tests help identify if individuals have a high genetic risk for developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, as well as other conditions.

During the conference, Dr. Herman and our clinicians discussed the best means to assess patients to screen them for cancer and/or identify potential risk factors for developing cancer. In addition to physical breast examinations and mammograms, the BRCA test was identified as an effective tool in cancer detection and prevention. There is strong evidence that positive results on this genetic test can flag individuals who are at a higher genetic risk of developing certain cancers.

Garden OB/GYN Offers BRCA Testing

Under the Affordable Care Act, BRCA testing is universally covered by health insurance companies, and it is conveniently offered by our Garden OB/GYN practice. If you are interested in participating in BRCA testing to assess your cancer risk, schedule an appointment or ask your clinician during your next Garden appointment about the simple blood test.
