Gopika Nandini Are, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified OB/GYN and a highly acclaimed practitioner at Garden OB/GYN. At the practice’s locations in Massapequa, Garden City, and Commack, New York, Dr. Are specializes in major gynecological surgical procedures such as Uterine Myomectomy, Cystectomy (removal of the Urinary Bladder), Hysterectomy (removal of all or part of the uterus), Salpingectomy (removal of fallopian tubes), Oophorectomy (removal of ovary), and the MyoSure procedure (removal of fibroids and polyps).
Dr. Are studied medicine at the Osmania Medical College in her home country of India. She completed residencies at the University of South Alabama and Long Island College Hospital, both in obstetrics and gynecology. While at the University of South Alabama, Dr. Are’s team was awarded a prize by Apple for being among the top OB/GYN providers in the country.
Dr. Are has a special interest in the research of gynecological cancers and the effects of the sleep habits of pregnant women in the hospital, and she has been awarded for her work in the field. Patients of Dr. Are recommend her as an attentive physician that will take the time to talk with you about your health and her recommendations. Dr. Are is also fluent in Telugu, Hindi, and Spanish.
Dr. Are’s skill and expertise have been acclaimed by her peers in both India and in the United States. She was a member of the Indian Medical Association and the Indian Medical Council. She is a member of the Mobile Medical Society and a junior fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
When she’s out of the office, Dr. Are enjoys cooking, gardening, and playing the sitar.
