About Dr. Gopika Are, MD

Gopika Nandini Are, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified OB/GYN and a highly acclaimed practitioner at Garden OB/GYN. At the practice locations in Massapequa, Garden City, and Commack, New York, Dr. Are specializes in major gynecological surgical procedures such as Uterine Myomectomy, Cystectomy (removal of the Urinary Bladder), Hysterectomy (removal of all or part of the uterus), Salpingectomy (removal of fallopian tubes), Oophorectomy (removal of ovary), and the MyoSure procedure (removal of fibroids and polyps).

Dr. Are studied medicine at the Osmania Medical College in her home country of India. She completed residencies at the University of South Alabama and Long Island College Hospital, both in obstetrics and gynecology. While at the University of South Alabama, Dr. Are's team was awarded a prize by Apple for being among the top OB/GYN providers in the country.

Dr. Are has a special interest in the research of gynecological cancers and the effects of the sleep habits of pregnant women in the hospital, and she has been awarded for her work in the field.
